Who was Peter Little’s father?

Maybe you can help solve the mystery!

For the past few years, much of my research activity has gone to looking for the parents of Peter Little. I have learned a lot about him and his adult life in Stanstead, Quebec, but his parents remain elusive. I have done both documentary and DNA research, and am now seeking one or more male Little descendants who might help me further the search for Peter’s father.

Specifically, I am looking for candidates to take a Y-DNA test at Family Tree DNA, a test which looks only at the Y-chromosome. The Y-chromosome is passed from father to son, so only direct male descendants of Peter qualify for the test.

If you are a direct male-line descendant of Peter Little (carrying the Little surname down from father to son), you hold a unique genetic key that could help solve this mystery. A Y-DNA test—which is a simple cheek swab done at home—tracks only the direct father-to-son line and can help us connect our Peter Little to other Little families across the country. There is already an active network of Little families working on DNA analysis: Little Surname DNA project. I am willing to pay a DNA test kit with FamilyTree DNA  if you would be open to participating in the research.

Peter had 11 sons, but only 4 of them went on to have sons themselves. The others were childless, or had daughters who cannot pass on the Y. Here is chart showing Peter’s direct male line sons and grandsons:
